Supplements – in my book, they’re essential health-boosters that can help fill in nutritional gaps and an act of the matter is, with so much of our food grown in soil that’s depleted of nutrients, it’s tough to get the necessary nutrients from food alone. So, minimum, I recommend taking these 4 supplements every day: a multivitamin, vitamin D3, fish oil and a Probiotic
Good Women’s Multi-Vitamin
If you’re going to choose one vitamin from this list, it should be a multi-vitamin that is made for women. Make sure it has folate or folic acid, which is very important for women ages 18 to 40, who someday want to have a family. A good multi-vitamin will give you a daily dose of all the things you should be eating in your diet…and more! Vitamin B12 prevents nerve damage, protects the heart, and supports your overall energy level and immune system. If you remain deficient in B12 for many years, you could develop anemia and neurological issues. For vegans, vegetarians, and people eating a plant-based diet without any animal products, if you’re not supplementing with B12, research shows you have a danger of ending up being deficient. In fact, studies estimate that somewhere between 20 to 40% of people around the world has a B12 deficiency. And in developing countries, the number is as high as 70 to 80%.Even meat eaters are often deficient in B12 because the vitamin isn’t always getting absorbed by their bodies. Therefore, it’s likely a good idea to get your B12 levels checked annually — and to take a supplement regularly.
It’s impossible to get adequate amounts of vitamin D from food now days, so you have to get it from supplements or sun exposure.
Fish oil supplements are rich in the essential omega-3 fatty acids, which are vital to good health. It strengthens skin, hair, and nails.
Probiotics are the naturally occurring “good” bacteria that live in your gut and play a significant role in your total wellness. My favorite is YAKULT. A daily dose of probiotics improves digestion and strengthen immunity – no prescription required!
